About this opportunity

The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is soliciting sealed bids for the MCIC Exterior Door Replacement project, a construction-related procurement for the replacement of selected doors, frames, and hardware at the MCIC Building located at 3330 Luce Road, Flushing, Michigan. The project encompasses exterior door and hardware replacement work with associated exterior painting services on steel substrates, specifically hollow metal doors and frames. The scope of work includes surface preparation requiring removal of rust, loose mill scale, and shop primer using methods such as SSPC-SP 7 brush-off blast cleaning or SSPC-SP 11 power tool cleaning to bare metal, followed by application of specified paint systems consisting of a Sherwin-Williams Industrial & Marine Pro-Cryl Universal Acrylic Primer as the prime coat and Sherwin-Williams Industrial & Marine Sher-Cryl HPA Semi-Gloss (B66W351) for intermediate and topcoat applications. Bidders must submit product data, paint samples showing each coat layer with specified dimensions, and a product list cross-referenced to the MPI Approved Products List, along with one gallon of each paint color and material as maintenance materials. Paint application is restricted to environmental conditions where ambient and surface temperatures are between 50 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit and relative humidity does not exceed 85 percent, with contractors responsible for dry film thickness testing and compliance verification. A highly recommended pre-bid meeting was held on January 16, 2020, at 1:00 pm at the MCIC Building with sign-in documentation provided. Sealed bids must be received by 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the Genesee Intermediate School District Davis Education Center, 2413 W. Maple Ave., Flint, Michigan 48507, with bids publicly opened and read aloud at that time. All questions regarding bidding procedures and specifications must be directed to MAYOTTEgroup Architects before 2:00 pm on January 24, 2020, and contract documents are available upon request from MAYOTTEgroup Architects beginning January 14, 2020.

Each bidder must submit a bid bond equal to 5% of the bid amount as bid security and complete all bids using forms provided in the Contract Specifications, with facsimile bids explicitly prohibited. Required documentation includes a notarized Familial Disclosure statement complying with MCL 380.1267 that discloses any familial relationships between the bidder or bidder's employees and members of the school district board, superintendent, or school district employees, and a completed and notarized Vendor Certification Form; bids will not be accepted without these sworn and notarized disclosure statements. No specific set-aside designations or restrictions limiting participation to disadvantaged enterprises or particular organizational types are mentioned in the procurement documents. The contract documents indicate acceptable paint manufacturers including O'Leary Paint Company, Benjamin Moore & Co., and Sherwin-Williams, with color selection to be determined by the Architect from the manufacturer's full range. The Owner anticipates awarding the contract to the successful bidder within 30 days of the bid due date and reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, award the bid to other than the low bidder, and waive informalities, irregularities, and errors in bid proposals. No specific contract award value or budget range is disclosed in the available procurement documents.
