About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting quotes for a Master Agreement for Fire Hose, with bids due February 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. local time. In-state bidders and those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine receive preference in case of tied quotes.
The scope covers Firebreak II self-protecting synthetic forestry hose in three sizes: 1-inch (730 model), 1.5-inch (731 model), and 2.5-inch (734 model), for wildland, urban interface, and structural fire suppression applications. The hose must be manufactured by Mercedes Textiles Limited or meet equivalent performance standards. All hoses must meet or exceed NFPA 1961 standards, Underwriter's Laboratories requirements, and Factory Mutual specifications. The 1.5-inch hose must flow 70 US GPM with maximum pressure loss of 10 PSIG per 100 feet. Service pressures range from 300 to 600 PSIG depending on size, with proof and burst pressures proportionally higher. The hose must feature single-jacket design with high-tenacity filament polyester yarn, tight twill weave with minimum 10.8 filler yarns per inch, and the patented Hydro-Wick weeping process. It must be resistant to chemicals, petrol products, UV rays, ozone, rot, mildew, and hydrolysis, and maintain flexibility to negative 65 degrees Fahrenheit. ULC approval and labeling are required. No defects, dirt, knots, or irregularities are permitted.
The State reserves the right to award on a per-item or group basis, increase or decrease quantities by up to 10%, and reject any or all quotes. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder based on best value considerations including product quality, conformity to specifications, delivery date, and ultimate cost to the State. Questions must be submitted through the AdvantageME Vendor Self Service portal no later than 24 hours before bid closing. Quotes must be submitted electronically through the same portal. Material Safety Data Sheets are required for all hazardous chemicals under Maine law.
