About this opportunity
The State of Maine is requesting bids for manufactured Combi Fish Culture Tank systems for the Dry Mills State Fish Hatchery in Gray, Maine, with bids due June 30, 2009. No in-state set-aside or preference applies; however, Maine law grants preference to in-state bidders or those offering Maine-manufactured commodities when price, quality, and availability are equal.
The scope comprises supply and installation of 30 complete Combi tank systems, each including a main tank (5-foot internal diameter, 3-foot depth with center Schedule 40 PVC standpipe), first feeder tray (10–12 inches deep), egg tray (ABS plastic with 1/16-inch maximum mesh openings), bottom center drain sump, removable water level control standpipes, fish exclusion screens (1/16-inch maximum openings), plumbing kit with all standpipes and fittings, and support skirt or stand. Main tanks measure 3 feet by 2 feet by 36 feet depth. All materials must comply with fish-rearing water safety — prohibiting cadmium, brass, bronze, copper, zinc, and their alloys — and constructed of orthophthalic polyester resin (rated to 150°F) with Type E electrical borosilicate glass reinforcement and 3/16-inch minimum laminate thickness. Interior and exterior surfaces require polyester gel coat finishes in green. Manufacturers must submit assembly, installation, and product-data drawings for approval before fabrication and must demonstrate a minimum of 10 prior installations with at least 5 years of in-service performance in similar applications. The specification names PR Aqua Ltd. as the acceptable manufacturer or approved equal. Installation includes hydrostatic testing before final acceptance. All equipment carries a one-year warranty from final acceptance. Bidders must submit unit prices on prescribed forms; transportation charges are prepaid by the contractor. The state reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent.
