About this file
This is a specification summary document from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife for the Dry Mills State Fish Hatchery located in Gray, Maine. The document outlines construction specifications for a Combi Tank system, which comprises three primary components: a main tank with an internal diameter of five feet and three feet depth featuring a center internal standpipe constructed of Schedule 40 PVC, a first feed tank measuring 10 to 12 inches deep, and an egg tray with specific screen requirements. The main tank must include a PVC bottom center drain sump integrated using fiberglass reinforced plastic, fish exclusion screens with openings not exceeding 1/16 inch, and a support skirt or stand allowing adequate space for plumbing connections. The system requires a 2-inch effluent pipe capable of connecting to the hatchery's effluent system via 2-inch PVC pipe or coupling. The first feed tank must include a fish exclusion screen with maximum opening specifications of 1/16 inch and meet quality and dimension standards outlined in referenced attachments.
The specifications require that all components conform to established quality and dimension standards detailed in Attachment B, with particular emphasis on screen material specifications and construction integrity. A comprehensive plumbing kit must be included containing all standpipes, fittings, screens, and associated components necessary for proper operation of the Combi Tank system. The contact for this project is Greg Bell at the Dry Mills State Fish Hatchery, reachable at (207) 657-4962 or greg.bell@maine.gov.
