About this opportunity
The Maine Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for a tire chain commodity contract with proposals due September 19, 2012. The contract serves MaineDOT and extends to other State of Maine agencies, political subdivisions, and school districts.
Tire chains must meet NACM specification 92805 and ASTM E18 hardness standards. All chains are required in V-Bar with Cam Side Chain configuration for two-wheel tire chain sets. The scope includes tire chains in multiple sizes (225/75R16 through 315/80-22.5), cross chains (11R22.5, 12R22.5, and 14.00X24), and chain and spring adjusters for loader and grader tires. A 30-day industry warranty applies.
The contract term is one year from the date of award. Pricing must remain firm throughout the contract duration and include all transportation, pickup, and delivery charges prepaid by the contractor on an F.O.B. destination basis. The State of Maine is exempt from federal excise taxes and state sales taxes. The State Procurement Card is an acceptable payment method with no surcharges allowed.
Orders up to $5,000 are submitted via email as PDF files; larger orders require approval and encumbrance by the Division of Purchases' Buyers. Separate invoices must reference the Master Agreement Number and Customer Number and be issued within 30 days of delivery.
The successful bidder must be willing to extend contract pricing to political subdivisions and school districts in Maine. The Division of Purchases reserves the right to extend the contract beyond the stated expiration date with contractor consent or to cancel with thirty days' written notice if terms and conditions are not met. A certificate of compliance and metallurgy reports with Rockwell hardness test data may be required if manufacturer defects are suspected.
