About this opportunity
The Maine Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for a statewide glove commodity contract covering work gloves, welding gloves, winter driver gloves, latex and nitrile gloves, chemical-resistant gloves, mechanical anti-vibration gloves, and specialty high-visibility gloves, with bids due December 30, 2009, and samples due by the same date. All bids must be submitted electronically through the Vendor Self Serve (VSS) system; fax and email submissions are not accepted.
The scope encompasses 59 distinct line items across multiple glove categories, with specifications including exact product descriptions, manufacturer part numbers, and sizing from small to XXL. Vendors must supply samples clearly marked by item number to the Division of Purchases, Attention Sue Garcia, 4th Floor, Burton Cross Building, 111 Sewall Street, Augusta, Maine 04333-0999. The contract covers statewide delivery to MaineDOT facilities and regional offices throughout Maine; all transportation charges must be prepaid and included in bid pricing, with FOB destination terms and delivery within 10 working days of order receipt. The initial contract term runs through December 31, 2010, followed by two optional one-year renewal periods. Total quantity requirements are not specified; orders will reflect actual usage. Vendors awarded contracts for apparel, footwear, or textiles are subject to a 1% anti-sweatshop fee applied to the total contract amount, payable within 30 days of purchase order execution or within 30 days following each calendar quarter for term contracts.
Bidders must submit pricing on a per-pair basis for each glove type and size, and prices must remain firm throughout the contract term. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder on the basis of individual items or groups of items as deemed beneficial to the State. All bidders must complete a State Purchasing Code of Conduct Affidavit certifying compliance with applicable wage, health, labor, environmental, safety, non-discrimination, and human rights laws at their facilities and those of their suppliers at the point of assembly; the affidavit must be faxed to Sue Garcia at 207-287-6578 by the bid opening date and time. The State will accept Procurement Card payment with no surcharges and reserves the right to reject any bids or cancel contracts with 30 days' written notice.
