About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is seeking to acquire a Magnetic Imaging Tool (MIT SCAN) specifically designed for measuring dowel and tie bar alignments in concrete pavement. The current MIT SCAN used by the FDOT is over 10 years old and requires a rail system for measurements, making it time-consuming and user-unfriendly. The new MIT SCAN is a totally new device that can measure and evaluate pavement joints in real-time without using a rail system, making it more flexible, rapid, efficient, and cost-effective. The FDOT intends to award this single source contract to Kessler Soils Engineering Products, Inc., the sole distributor for MIT Magnetic Tomography NDT equipment in the USA. The FDOT has justified the single source acquisition, stating that Kessler Soils Engineering Products, Inc. is the only vendor that can install, configure, and calibrate the hardware and software required to operate the MIT SCAN. This contract will support the FDOT's mission-critical data collection process for monitoring, assessing, and reporting on the condition, performance, and safety of Florida's roadways. The contract is valued at $71,355.00 and the due date for responses is April 13, 2022.
