About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a single-source procurement for a Magnetic Imaging Tool (MIT) Scan, a specialized device used to measure dowel and tie bar alignments in concrete pavement. FDOT is seeking to acquire a newer, more user-friendly version of the MIT Scan from the sole distributor, Kessler Soils Engineering Products, Inc. The existing MIT Scan used by FDOT is over 10 years old and requires a time-consuming rail system setup, so FDOT is looking to improve the efficiency of this process. The estimated dollar amount for this one-year procurement is $71,355.00. FDOT has determined that the MIT Scan is only available from Kessler Soils Engineering Products, Inc., as they are the sole distributor of the MIT Magnetic Tomography NDT equipment in the USA and the only vendor that can install, configure, and calibrate the required hardware and software. If FDOT determines in writing, after reviewing any information received from prospective vendors, that the MIT Scan is available only from Kessler Soils Engineering Products, Inc., FDOT will post notice of its intended decision to enter a single-source purchase contract on the Vendor Bid System.

This single-source procurement is specific to Leon County, Florida. There are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. Kessler Soils Engineering Products, Inc. is the incumbent vendor and the only identified contractor that can provide the required MIT Scan. The procurement does not mention any existing infrastructure or technology that requires integration. The budget for this procurement is $71,355.00.
