About this opportunity

Florida International University (FIU) is seeking proposals for the construction and delivery of a new compact Life Support Buoy (LSB) to support the Aquarius Underwater Laboratory situated in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. The project entails building the LSB in strict accordance with provided engineering drawings, incorporating features such as a secure access hatch, through hull penetrator, and integrated mooring system. Respondents must demonstrate experience in marine vessel construction, knowledge of bent steel fabrication, and the ability to meet the project timeline from contract issuance to final delivery at a shipyard between Key Largo and Islamorada, Florida. The contract will be awarded based on evaluation criteria that include construction ability, relevant experience, price, timeline, and delivery capabilities. Respondents must provide a detailed quote, including material, construction, and labor costs, as well as any applicable warranty coverage, and outline their anticipated project timeline and address technical considerations such as hatch access, through hull penetrator design, and buoyancy.

The procurement is open to electronic submissions only through FIU's Public Solicitation Portal, with a release date of September 27, 2023, and a bid due date of October 20, 2023, by 2:00:00 P.M.
