About this opportunity

Lakeview School District in Calhoun County, Michigan is procuring labor-only services for the replacement of three pumps at Lakeview High School in Battle Creek. The scope of work includes disconnecting and removing existing pumps, hoisting new pumps into place, replacing pipe insulation with new Armorflex insulation, performing testing and balancing, removing and reinstalling gauges, cleaning frequency drives, disassembling and cleaning heat exchanger plates with new gaskets, pumping down and replacing existing glycol without supplying additional glycol, and inspecting and repairing leaking pipe fittings in the pump room only. The project includes a $5,000 allowance for repairing the existing glycol feed system, with unused portions to be returned via deductive change order. Contractors must coordinate deliveries to avoid impacting school operations, maintain daily cleanup, and protect the existing gymnasium wood floor. The construction schedule requires work to commence on March 12, 2018, with unit installation completion by March 26, 2018, and final completion by March 30, 2018, during standard work hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sealed lump sum bids are due by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Lakeview School District, 5 Arbor Street, Battle Creek, Michigan 49015. Prospective bidders may arrange site visits with Jim Steiner at 248-514-4740; no pre-bid meeting will be held. The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to award to other than the lowest bidder.

Qualified contractors must obtain all permits and associated fees, provide comprehensive general liability insurance with minimum limits of $2,000,000 per occurrence, workers' compensation insurance at statutory levels, automobile liability coverage of $1,000,000 combined single limit, excess umbrella liability of $2,000,000, and pollution liability of $1,000,000 where applicable. For bids of $50,000 or greater, bid security of 5 percent of the total base bid amount and a Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bond equal to 100 percent of the contract sum are required. All bidders must provide sworn and notarized statements certifying familial relationship disclosures in compliance with MCL 380.1267 and Iran Economic Sanctions Act compliance. A two-year warranty is required for all materials and workmanship, and contractors must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental requirements. Progress payments will be made monthly with 10 percent retainage, provided within the last day of the following month upon receipt of certified applications for payment. The contract is governed by Michigan law.
