About this opportunity

Lakeview School District in Battle Creek, Michigan is requesting proposals for digital signs at four elementary schools (Minges Brook, Prairieview, Riverside, and Westlake), with proposals due July 22, 2026.

The scope encompasses sign improvements across the four named elementary schools, with technical specifications and detailed sign requirements incorporated into the RFP and contract documents. The contractor must perform services expeditiously while minimizing operational disruption to the District. All contractor employees must be fully certified and licensed to lawfully perform the work. The contractor bears responsibility for all materials and equipment in transit and until final installation; all equipment must be new and in good working order.

Contract compensation is to be determined by the parties. The contractor must procure performance and payment bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract sum and obtain comprehensive insurance coverage including workers compensation, general liability, automobile liability, and builder's risk, with the District named as an additional insured. Insurance must be maintained for at least one year following final completion for occurrence-based policies or seven years for claims-made policies. The District will retain 10 percent of all payments until successful final completion. Monthly invoicing is permitted, with District payment due within thirty days of invoice receipt, provided payment does not exceed the value of services performed to date.

The contractor must provide a one-year warranty on all work and twelve months of call-back services following project completion at no additional cost. The contractor assumes all applicable sales and use taxes. The District may terminate the agreement upon seven days' written notice. Disputes proceed first through non-binding mediation under American Arbitration Association Construction Industry Mediation Rules. Time is deemed of the essence.
