About this opportunity

The City of Valdosta is seeking sealed bids for the Knights Creek Trunkline Rehabilitation Phase 2 project, located in Lee County, Georgia. The procurement opportunity involves the installation of approximately 2,450 linear feet of 24-inch gravity sewer and associated infrastructure improvements. Specific project requirements include comprehensive site preparation involving clearing and grubbing of the easement area, conducting a preconstruction as-built survey, and establishing bypass sewer system arrangements to prevent service interruptions during construction. Contractors must be prepared to execute multiple potential installation methodologies, including open cut installation of 24 SDR26 PVC gravity sewer, 24 DR17 HDPE gravity sewer via pipe bursting, or a combination of these techniques. The project scope encompasses demolition of existing infrastructure, installation of six new 60-diameter precast concrete sewer manholes, implementing erosion control measures, and performing final site stabilization with permanent grassing. Sealed bids will be received at the City Hall Annex Building, 300 N. Lee Street, Valdosta, Georgia, with a strict submission deadline of 10:00 AM local time on Thursday, April 10th, 2025.

While no specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements are explicitly mentioned in the provided documentation, the project appears to be open to qualified sewer infrastructure contractors capable of executing complex municipal infrastructure rehabilitation work. The bid package (KnightCkTrunklineRehab_Ph2_BidPackage.pdf) likely contains additional details regarding contractor qualifications, though specific budget ranges were not disclosed in the initial procurement notice. The project represents a significant municipal infrastructure investment focusing on sewer system modernization and rehabilitation. Potential bidders will need demonstrated expertise in municipal infrastructure construction, specific experience with gravity sewer installation, proficiency in multiple pipe installation methodologies, and the capability to manage comprehensive infrastructure replacement projects. The final deliverable will include a comprehensive as-built survey documenting the newly constructed infrastructure, ensuring complete documentation of the rehabilitation efforts.
