About this opportunity
Kenosha County, Wisconsin is seeking bids for a comprehensive air handling unit (AHU) replacement project at the Public Safety Building located at 1000 55th Street in Kenosha. The procurement involves selective demolition and complete replacement of existing HVAC infrastructure, including removing dual duct air handling units, return fans, condensing units, VAV boxes, associated controls, and piping. The project requires installing new air handling units, condensing units, rooftop equipment, VAV boxes, and making all necessary piping, ductwork, and electrical connections. Contractors must integrate existing fire alarm devices and provide new controls for replaced equipment. A pre-bid conference is scheduled for 4/15/2025 at 1:00 PM CT at the project site, with bids due by 5/7/2025 at 1:00 PM. Bidders must submit a 5% bid bond, provide comprehensive references, complete a vendor responsibility questionnaire, and meet specific insurance requirements of $1,000,000 in commercial general liability and $1,000,000 in excess/umbrella liability. Evaluation criteria will likely include technical capability, project experience, financial stability, and compliance with detailed specification requirements outlined in the project documents.
The contract does not specify explicit set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises. Bidders must demonstrate substantial technical qualifications, including successful completion of similar complex HVAC replacement projects within the past 6-18 months. The project requires submission of detailed documentation, including three project references, two supplier references, a comprehensive equipment list, and disclosure of any legal or performance issues from the past 5-7 years. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the project is funded through Kenosha County's capital improvement budget and is expected to be awarded around 5/21/2025, with substantial completion required by 4/30/2026. The contract includes monthly progress payments with a 5% retainage and requires a one-year warranty on all workmanship and materials. Notably, the bid documents indicate the opportunity is open to other public agencies for potential cooperative purchasing under the same terms and conditions, potentially expanding the contract's reach and value.
