About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is conducting a statutorily mandated single source procurement for the lease of fifteen (15) FMC-0919-B Mechanical Juice Extractors from John Bean Technologies Corporation (JBT FoodTech) for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024. These extractors are used to evaluate and determine the percent of total soluble solids per pound on delivered citrus, with the results used to determine the maturity of the delivered load. The agency has determined that JBT FoodTech holds the patent for this extractor, and there is no equivalent machine available. Prospective vendors have until April 7, 2023 to provide information regarding their ability to supply the required commodities or services. The estimated contract amount is $356,745.00, and the cost for leasing these machines is reimbursed by individual processing plants. If it is determined that the required commodities or services are only available from a single source after reviewing information received from prospective vendors, the agency will post notice of its intended decision to enter into an agreement with JBT FoodTech on the Vendor Information Portal pursuant to Section 120.57(3), Florida Statutes.

This is a single source procurement, and there are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. The current incumbent vendor is JBT FoodTech, and the agency requires the use of their patented FMC-0919-B Mechanical Juice Extractors. The estimated contract value is $356,745.00, which will be reimbursed by individual processing plants.
