About this opportunity

The City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Department is requesting bids for removal and replacement of an existing 1-ton jib crane at the waterfront, with bids due November 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. and an optional pre-bid meeting on October 7, 2026.

The scope requires furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and permits to demolish the existing crane and install a new foundation-mounted, marine-grade 1-ton jib crane with 12-foot overall height and 20-foot boom span or functionally equivalent dimensions. The replacement crane must include a powered rotation mechanism, marine-grade epoxy coating for saltwater protection, electrical connections, new pendant controller, certified load testing, and compliance with OSHA, CMAA, and ANSI standards. The contractor must perform load testing, verify operation, and provide operating manuals and warranty information. If the existing hoist is in acceptable working condition, it will be reinstalled on the new crane. All removed materials become the contractor's property.

The contract term is two years with an option to renew for three additional one-year periods, not to exceed five years total. A local preference of up to 10 percent applies to Long Beach-based businesses that provide current valid business licenses and sellers' permits, though this does not apply to tidelands fund, grant fund, or state-funded purchases. Contractors must comply with California prevailing wage requirements under Labor Code Section 1720 et seq. (2026-1 prevailing wage rate), obtain and maintain a City of Long Beach Business License, and register with the Department of Industrial Relations. Marine general liability insurance of $2 million per occurrence and $4 million general aggregate is required, along with a Faithful Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Bond for 100 percent of the bid cost. Questions and approved-equals requests are due October 21, 2026. Bid opening is November 22, 2026. Payment is due within 30 calendar days of invoice submission. Bids must be submitted electronically through the Long Beach Buys procurement platform.
