About this opportunity
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is soliciting bids for intelligent transportation systems (ITS) expansion in Hancock and Pike Counties within District 6, with electronic bids due July 31, 2026 via the iCX system.
The scope encompasses furnishing all equipment, labor, and material to install underground conduit, fiber optic cable runs, closed-circuit television (CCTV) dome cameras, Ethernet switches, and associated miscellaneous work across various routes in both counties. Deliverables include CAT 5E Ethernet cable, 24-fiber single-mode fiber optic cable with specified termination and testing requirements, CCTV dome camera assemblies (Axis Model Q6074-E), and hardened Ethernet switches with dual fiber optic modules. Personnel performing fiber optic cable installation, splicing, and testing must have a minimum of three years' experience and must have successfully completed two outdoor fiber optic cable systems that have been operational for at least two years.
Testing requirements are stringent: fiber optic cables must be tested bi-directionally at both 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths, with individual events not exceeding 0.10 dB attenuation and total cable loss not exceeding 0.5 dB/km at either wavelength. The contractor must provide comprehensive operation and maintenance documentation, including as-built diagrams, test procedures, performance data, and parts lists. The contractor must maintain at least one open lane of traffic in both directions and coordinate with IDOT District 6 Bureau of Operations at least 72 hours in advance of work and three weeks prior to implementing traffic control measures. No utility relocations are anticipated. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. IDOT reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, readvertise the improvement, and waive technicalities in the bidding process.
