About this opportunity
The City of Bostwick, Georgia, is requesting bids on replacement of the Bostwick water line along SR 83 north of Bostwick under ITB Bostwick Water Line Replacement, with sealed bids due October 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit is scheduled for October 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bostwick City Hall, with written questions due October 8, 2026.
The scope encompasses removal of the existing water line and installation of 8-inch, 6-inch, and 1-1/2-inch PVC water mains with associated fittings, valves, hydrants, taps, and appurtenances; 16-inch steel casing via jack-and-bore methods; connection of existing meters and services to the new main; pressure and leakage testing, flushing, disinfection, and bacteriological sampling; traffic control and maintenance; erosion and sediment controls; and final restoration with sod from Bostwick sources. The project includes 25 bid line items with quantities such as 3,668 linear feet of 8-inch PVC main, 10 fire hydrant assemblies, 172 linear feet of steel casing, and 4,500 square yards of permanent sod. Contractors must be properly licensed and qualified for water-main construction, utility work, traffic control, and restoration, with three references for similar-sized projects completed within the last five years. The existing water line may contain asbestos-containing material; all costs associated with identification, handling, removal, transportation, disposal, and compliance are included in the designated bid line item cost.
The contract term is 120 calendar days from Notice to Proceed, with mobilization required within 10 calendar days. The City operates a unit price contract structure with payment based on quantities installed against bid unit prices on the Proposal Bid Tabulation Form. A 5% Bid Bond and 100% Performance-Payment Bond are required. A 10% retainage will be held, and liquidated damages of $200 per day apply for failure to commence work or resume after five business days of cessation. Comprehensive general liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence, automobile liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit, and worker's compensation at statutory limits with employers liability of $500,000 are mandatory. Sealed bids must consist of two physical copies and one flash drive with digital copies submitted in person. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and has 45 days to accept a bid.
