About this opportunity
The City of Wichita is requesting bids for installation of structured voice and data cabling at the new Patrol West facility for the Information Technology Department, with sealed bids due August 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. electronically through the City's Procurement Portal. The pre-bid conference was held July 28, 2026; written questions were due July 31, 2026, with answers posted by August 5, 2026.
The scope requires installation of a Belden-certified Cat6A cabling solution with 280 total cables categorized by function: 138 data cables for PC/phone/printer locations, 69 cables for holding/interview rooms and bodycam/taser docks, 34 cables for camera locations, 18 cables for wireless access points, and 21 cables for television locations (requiring both Cat6A and RG6). Work includes terminating cables in 24-port modular Cat6A patch panels, providing J-hooks and ladder rack support, and furnishing MDF equipment — a four-post open rack, three APC UPS units, three rack PDUs, and two rack shelves. All work must be completed and invoiced within 60 calendar days of Notice to Proceed.
Bidders must be licensed and have a minimum of five years' experience in similar services; municipal government experience is preferable. Bids will be evaluated on three line items — labor for installation, materials, and equipment — submitted as lump sum amounts for each category. Award will be made to the lowest and best total net bid from a responsive and responsible vendor. City Council approval is tentatively scheduled for August 25, 2026.
A 5% bid bond, 100% performance bond, and 100% labor and material payment bond are required. Surety bonds must be issued by companies authorized to conduct business in Kansas. Commercial General Liability insurance with $1 million per occurrence and $2 million annual aggregate, Comprehensive Automobile Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Employers Liability coverage are mandatory. Certificates of Insurance must be provided within ten days of award. All bids must be submitted electronically; paper submissions are not accepted.
