The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is requesting proposals for the installation and services of two 50 kVA parallel redundant UPS units at the MBTA Police Station, 240 Southampton Street, Boston, with proposals due November 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. via COMMBUYS and a mandatory pre-bid site visit on October 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
The scope is a complete turnkey project including purchase of two identical next-generation UPS modules to replace existing Liebert AP341 and Mitsubishi UP2033D units, installation with zero interruption to critical loads, removal and disposal of existing equipment, all wiring and modifications, establishment of an alarm messaging system integrated into MBTA email with separate annunciator panel, and provision of two laptop computers for servicing. The contract term spans five years of maintenance, repair, and 24/7/365 emergency response services with a mandatory four-hour onsite emergency response requirement. Service commencement is within 30 days of notice to proceed.
Pricing must be submitted as firm fixed prices on the provided Form C, including prevailing wages (ranging approximately $37.53 to $151.53 per hour depending on trade classification per Massachusetts prevailing wage schedules), tooling, equipment, transportation, and all ancillary charges. Estimated labor is 480 hours during regular business hours (8 hours per day) and 120 hours during off-hours (5–7 p.m.). The five-year service agreement must include fixed hourly rates for on-hours maintenance (estimated 24 hours per year), off-hours maintenance and repair (estimated 66 hours per year), and 24/7/365 emergency response with all travel charges included. A $10,000 contingency is allocated pending MBTA approval.
