About this opportunity
Greenville County Procurement Services Division is seeking a licensed barber to provide inmate barber services at the Greenville County Detention Center through a Request for Quotes (RFQuotes #22114). The primary deliverables include performing a minimum of 20 haircuts and beard trims per week for inmates, with historical pricing at $10 per haircut and $8 per beard trim. The vendor must be licensed through South Carolina License, Labor and Regulation (SCLLR) or an equivalent state agency, possess a minimum of two years of experience in a licensed barber/beauty shop, and be willing to work in a correctional environment. Key qualifications include completing jail security orientation, passing FBI/SLED background checks, and submitting three customer references with contact information. The solicitation was issued on May 4, 2022, with proposals due electronically by May 13, 2022, at 3:00 pm through the county's procurement portal. Evaluation criteria will likely include vendor experience, references, licensing, and ability to meet the detention center's service requirements.
There are no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on organizational types mentioned in the procurement documents. The vendor must maintain comprehensive general liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence, automobile liability insurance, and statutory worker's compensation coverage. A sample services agreement indicates the potential contract could be extended for up to four annual renewals, with payment made upon invoice submission and review. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the historical pricing suggests a potential annual value of approximately $16,640 (assuming 20 services per week at average rates). The contract will be governed by South Carolina law, with any disputes to be handled in Greenville County courts. No information is provided about incumbent vendors or existing technological infrastructure that would require integration with the selected barber service provider.
