About this opportunity
Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works is soliciting bids for one Marathon MiniMac 5HP compactor unit with hydraulic oil heater or equivalent, a custom-fabricated hopper extension, and a 2-yard rear load container, with on-site installation and haul-away of the existing unit, with bids due September 2, 2026.
All equipment must be new and not refurbished. Bidders must have direct experience supplying and servicing the requested items and are prohibited from subcontracting. Winning bidders must register in the County's Infor electronic purchasing system and with the Cuyahoga County Inspector General's Office.
The bid must itemize equipment costs, labor charges for installation, freight charges, fuel surcharges, and any additional applicable fees. All quoted prices must remain firm for 60 days. Vendors experiencing materially increased costs due to tariff policy changes must submit Rules of Origin documentation to justify price increase requests, which the County reserves the right to reject. Lead time may be considered in the final award decision.
Scope includes disconnecting and removing the existing compactor and power unit, installing new equipment to the container, hooking up power, installing wedge anchors, filling the oil reservoir, and testing the machine. The scope also specifies delivery of eight gallons of commercial hydraulic oil. All equipment will be delivered to Cleveland, Ohio 44114.
The specifications reference the Marathon MiniMac 5HP as a base standard or equivalent, with detailed requirements for concrete pad (minimum 3,000 psi, steel-reinforced, 6 inches thick), anchoring procedures using 3/4" x 6" anchor bolts, and hydraulic system compliance including ISO Grade 46 all-temperature hydraulic fluids and pressure settings between 1450–1950 psi depending on configuration. Installation must comply with OSHA and ANSI Lock-Out/Tag-Out requirements.
No contract value, incumbent contractor, set-aside, or preference program is identified in the source materials.
