About this opportunity
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is requesting price quotes for tree root removal and sidewalk repair services in Shasta, Siskiyou, and Trinity counties, with quotes due June 23, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. This solicitation is restricted to certified small businesses, micro businesses, small businesses for public works purposes, or disabled veteran business enterprises — a decision-flipping set-aside that filters eligibility.
Work is performed at three locations: City of Weaverville, City of Redding, and City of Yreka, during normal business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding State holidays. The scope includes removal and legal disposal of existing concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, trenching and root removal, root barrier installation, and root treatment with pruning sealer. Estimated quantities are 1,200 square feet of sidewalk removal and replacement per location, 830 linear feet of curb and gutter installation per location, and 230 square feet of concrete grinding per location.
The total price quote must not exceed $484,000. The contract term runs from July 1, 2026 (estimated) through June 30, 2028. Prevailing wages are required if the total bid amount exceeds $15,000; a payment bond is required if the successful bid exceeds $25,000.
Bidders must hold a valid California Contractors State License Board license (Class A General Engineering Contractor or C-8 Concrete Contractor), continuous Department of Industrial Relations registration, and DGS certification as a small business or disabled veteran business enterprise. Subcontractors must possess equivalent certifications and licenses. Caltrans will verify contractor licenses and DIR registration; bidders need not provide copies. At least two price quotes from certified eligible vendors must be received before award authorization. Written questions are due June 16, 2026. The estimated award date is June 30, 2026. General liability and workers' compensation insurance are required, with Caltrans named as an additional insured.
