About this opportunity
The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is issuing an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for the one-time purchase of 25 indoor-rated fare card dispensing machines for the MTA Metro Rail station platforms, with an option to acquire up to an additional 10 units. The machines must be capable of vending at least four separate pre-encoded plastic MTA CharmCards and accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover contact and contactless EMV bank cards. The bid submission deadline has been extended to December 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM ET. The contract will be awarded to the responsible bidder submitting the most favorable bid price, which must include shipping, handling, and a minimum one-year warranty. Bidders must be the original manufacturer or an authorized reseller/approved vendor of the requested equipment.
This procurement does not include any Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) or Veteran-Owned Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) subcontracting goals, and no federal funds are involved. The contract is a one-time purchase with no ongoing maintenance or credit services required. The MDOT MTA indicates that these fare card dispensing machines are a temporary solution as they work to update their existing fare system, and they will consider all bids meeting the required specifications, including those that may be higher cost but of better quality and reliability.
