Opportunity text
Addendum 1- 9/5/2024 The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Female Offender Programs and Services, Special Housing Mission (FOPS) continues to be committed to implementing best practices for those incarcerated in women¿s institutions and to support staff in their efforts to maintain safe and secure environments. FOPS recognizes staff transferring from a male institution to a female institution often face an adjustment period when working with incarcerated women/persons. It is important to assist them in adapting by developing expansive training on gender-responsive practices, communication, and operational considerations in female institutions. The intent is to contract building leadership capacity and gender-responsive strategies, to support positive outcomes for staff and incarcerated individuals housed in CDCR Women¿s Institutions: California Institution for Women (CIW) and Central California Women¿s Facility (CCWF). To review and adopt national and international best practices and align them with the California Model, we must continue to build bridges between employees and incarcerated individuals, foster understanding and provide support, and continue education and training.
