About this opportunity

The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University (NYSCC) is requesting bids on a Schottky type Scanning Electron Microscope with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy capabilities under IFB 168023, with bids due July 8, 2026 at 3:30 PM. Written questions are due June 22, 2026 at 3:30 PM, with official responses issued by June 29 at 3:30 PM.

No business enterprise has been awarded an identical or substantially similar contract within the past five years.

The equipment must feature a Schottky field emission gun with an accelerating voltage range of 0.1–30 kV and beam current range of 1 pA to 200 nA. Optional Electron Backscatter Diffraction capabilities are available for grain size analysis, phase analysis, and grain orientation determination. The SEM/EDS will support graduate student education and research in glass, ceramic, and metallic materials, with limited use on certain polymers in biomaterial work. The microscope will characterize microstructures, fracture surfaces, powders, and elemental compositions.

Bidders must certify that quoted prices are equal to or lower than those offered to other corporations, institutions, or governmental agencies for similar equipment. All bids must be submitted through the Bidnet Direct platform.
