About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) State Materials Office, located in Leon County, is conducting a single source procurement for bearing replacement and repair services on the MKIV Heavy Vehicle Simulator (HVS), a specialized piece of equipment used to evaluate emerging pavement materials and designs. The procurement requires prospective vendors to demonstrate their ability to provide partial dismantling, calibration, and alignment services in accordance with manufacturer specifications. The scope of work includes technical expertise in servicing this proprietary equipment, with deliverables focused on restoring the HVS to full operational capability through precision bearing replacement and system calibration. The contract term is four months, with vendor information submissions due by 5:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. The posting was made on April 21, 2026, and will remain posted for a minimum of 15 business days in accordance with Florida Statutes section 287.057(3)(c). Interested vendors must submit their qualifications and capability statements to the FDOT State Materials Office in Tallahassee, Florida, with contact information available through Sherill Johnson.
This procurement is designated as a single source purchase, indicating that only vendors with specialized technical capability to service the MKIV HVS are eligible to respond. Dynatest US, Inc. is identified as the known vendor and intended contractor, as the company manufactures the MKIV HVS and possesses exclusive technical knowledge required to perform bearing replacement and calibration services on this proprietary equipment. The single source justification is based on the equipment's specialized nature and the absence of alternative vendors capable of servicing this particular model. No set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises or small businesses are indicated in the procurement documents. The estimated cost of this single source purchase contract is $38,300.00.
