About this opportunity
The State of Maine Department of Environmental Protection is requesting bids for a heavy-duty fiberglass composite service body with canopy, due May 6, 2008, with bids to be opened electronically at the Division of Purchases office in Augusta.
The scope calls for two units of a fiberglass composite service body with steel understructure, sized 108 inches long by 82¾ inches wide by 72 inches tall, to be installed on a 2008 Ford F350 Super Duty cab and chassis. The specification includes 1/8-inch steel treadplate flooring; stainless steel hardware throughout; multiple compartments with adjustable shelving rated for 250-pound capacity; exterior Ford school bus yellow finish (code 84S53/M6284F) with white interior compartments; integrated electrical system meeting FMVSS lighting standards with LED strobes and halogen flood lights; quick-connect sealed wiring; Class IV trailer hitch assembly; backup alarms; and 7-way RV-style trailer connector. All materials must meet durability standards including heavy-duty closed-cell weather stripping, non-skid compartment tops, flow-through ventilation, and drain systems in all compartments.
Bidders must submit unit prices and total costs on prescribed forms or through the electronic bidding system and provide completion timeframe estimates with their proposals. The State awards to the lowest responsible bidder based on best value considerations including quality, conformity with specifications, delivery date, and total cost. The Division of Purchases reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive formalities and technicalities, and increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent. Pricing must include all transportation charges and trade or quantity discounts; the State is exempt from Federal and Maine sales and use taxes. Bids must exclude tax charges. Cash discounts under 20 days will not be considered in award determinations. Contractors must comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, and must provide current material safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals per Maine's Chemical Substance Identification Law.
