About this opportunity

The University of New Mexico Continuing Education (UNMCE) is soliciting a sole-source purchase for health and fitness class instruction services from Genesis Health Clubs, with proposals due July 25, 2026. This is a sole-source procurement under New Mexico law; the vendor was selected after UNM's due diligence determined that other contacted providers (Chuze Fitness, Orange Theory Fitness, and Defined Fitness) either failed to respond or declined to participate in the required revenue-sharing model.

Genesis Health Clubs will deliver weekly online fitness classes via Zoom each Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., instructed by a Certified Personal Trainer holding a Master's degree in Human Performance and Sports Administration and an undergraduate degree in Physical Education with over fifteen years of experience. The curriculum covers five fitness components — muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and body composition — through instruction in equipment usage, training methodologies (HIIT, yoga, plyometrics, resistance training), nutrition, and wellness topics. Participants gain access to Genesis facilities at five locations and receive instruction suitable for beginning to advanced fitness levels.

The estimated contract value is $450,000. The vendor must integrate with UNM's registration system and track student participation. UNM's selection rationale emphasized Genesis's demonstrated administrative capability for student support, customer service, technological integration capacity, ability to provide qualified personnel, and willingness to structure the engagement as a revenue-sharing arrangement critical to sustaining UNMCE's non-credit programming. The sole-source justification form was posted on the UNM Sunshine Portal for 30 days prior to purchase in accordance with New Mexico procurement law.
