About this opportunity

The City of Kissimmee, Florida cancelled RFQ No. 5 for the installation of an exterior fiber cement siding system at Haven on Vine Apartments on July 20, 2026, without award. The solicitation originally closed on July 8, 2026.

The project scope required installation of a complete James Hardie fiber cement siding system or City-approved equivalent on one four-unit apartment building (Building #D) located at 1815 W. Vine Street, Kissimmee, Florida. Work included removal of existing exterior wall finishes and installation of lap siding, vertical accent panels, trim boards, flashing, and weather-resistive barriers. Material quantities were approximately 5,650 square feet of lap siding, 5,650 square feet of weather-resistant barriers, 700 square feet of vertical accent panels, 1,200 linear feet of trim boards, 540 linear feet of corner trim, 300 linear feet of decorative horizontal trim bands, and 900 linear feet of sealant and caulking. Contractors were required to verify all field dimensions prior to fabrication or material ordering and to match the architectural character to City conceptual renderings. The contractor had to obtain all required permits, maintain a clean worksite with daily debris removal, protect adjacent improvements, and coordinate transitions in accordance with the Florida Building Code.

This project was federally funded and subject to Davis-Bacon Prevailing Wage Requirements and Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements, with compliance documentation required as part of quotation submission. Contractors needed a current Florida Contractor License, Certificate of Insurance, three references for similar multifamily fiber cement siding projects, and proposed project schedule and superintendent information. Mobilization was scheduled for the second week of July 2026. Two bids were received by the July 8 deadline: BAM Construction, LLC at $149,900.00 and Taypa Construction at $160,776.00. Both included painting, manufacturer material warranty, one-year workmanship warranty, and Davis-Bacon compliance.
