About this opportunity

Putnam County Board of Commissioners is requesting sealed bids for harvesting of merchantable pine timber from approximately 0.509 acres behind the Crooked Creek Fire Station at 158 Crooked Creek Drive, Eatonton, Georgia, with proposals due August 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

Local and minority-owned/operated and women-owned/operated businesses are encouraged to submit proposals. The county reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to award based on its best interest.

The scope requires harvesting merchantable pine timber while exercising care to minimize damage to existing hardwoods on the tract. Bidders must submit a Work Resume demonstrating similar project experience with direct control and full responsibility for outcomes and are encouraged to conduct a personal site inspection. The successful bidder is expected to offset their bid amount with the value of merchantable timber recovered, positioning this as a net-cost or revenue-generating engagement rather than a straightforward service procurement.

Performance must be substantially completed within 120 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, with liquidated damages of $500 per day assessed for delays excluding weather-related causes. All bidders must provide proof of insurance including Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability ($1,000,000 each occurrence / $2,000,000 general aggregate), and Automobile Liability ($1,000,000 combined single limit). Bid bonds and performance bonds are not required. Bidders must comply with Georgia state law requirements, including drug-free workplace certification, E-Verify compliance, and non-collusion affirmations.

Sealed proposals must be submitted to the Putnam County Board of Commissioners, Attn: County Clerk, 117 Putnam Drive, Suite A, Eatonton, GA 31024, requiring two paper copies and one electronic copy if submitted physically, or one copy via the county website. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. No bid may be modified or withdrawn for 60 calendar days after bid opening.
