About this opportunity
The Georgia Department of Transportation, on behalf of Gwinnett County, has awarded a contract for Air Traffic Control Tower improvements following receipt of bids due February 25, 2022. Robinson Aviation, Inc. (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) was selected with a total bid of $330,714.38 comprising a base bid of $299,470.75 and an additive maintenance bid of $31,243.63, representing approximately $404,285.62 in savings compared to the competing bid from CNC Navtech.
The scope includes installation of a new voice switch equipment rack on the second floor with integration into existing radio equipment in the equipment room. The contractor must provide all cable trays, conduits, wire management systems, and hangers for routing cables in ceiling spaces. Console surface replacements with new plywood and laminate are limited to areas where the Zetron voice switch equipment is mounted; other console surfaces housing airport and FAA equipment remain unchanged. The contractor is responsible for two years of post-completion maintenance and removal of obsolete cabling associated with replaced Zetron consoles within specified allowance limits. Contractors must submit a Quality Control Manual as part of technical specifications compliance.
Work must commence within ten days of receiving the Notice to Proceed and be completed within forty-five workdays from that notice. A Notice to Purchase will be issued first, requiring material procurement within six calendar months prior to the Notice to Proceed. Two electrical circuits labeled Panel LAR, CNR #32 and #34 on the second floor are designated for the voice switch equipment. Acknowledgment of Addendum 2 must be provided on page 26 of the invitation and returned with the bid submission to avoid a non-responsive determination.
