The scope includes removal of 50 linear feet of existing guardrail; installation of 250 linear feet of Beam Guardrail Type 31, 50 linear feet of Beam Guardrail Type 10, four transition sections, and two non-flared terminals; drainage improvements comprising approximately 67 linear feet of 18-inch diameter Schedule A culvert pipe; 120 tons of crushed surfacing top course; 70 square yards of seeding and fertilizing; 18 guardrail reflectors; and 50 square feet of construction signs. Additional work includes erosion control, utility coordination, roadside cleanup and trimming, and temporary traffic control. Bridge guardrail posts are to be offset 1 foot north of existing locations with voids grouted per WSDOT Standard Specification 9-20.3(2); guardrail anchorage requires 3/4-inch diameter resin-bonded anchors with 10-inch minimum embedment and 7/8-inch holes for 3/4-inch button head bolts. The project incorporates relocation of LightCurve buried lines prior to construction and Astound buried conduit management during construction, with contractor liability for conduit damage waived. The project includes a $10,000 contingency allocation for third-party damage reimbursement.
Bidders must submit a 5% proposal guaranty as cash, certified check payable to Pierce County Treasurer, or proposal bond; provide Washington contractor's license, UBI, Industrial Insurance account, excise tax, and employment security account numbers; certify non-collusion and non-segregated facilities compliance; and list subcontractors for structural steel, rebar, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work as defined by Washington state law.
