About this opportunity

Schenectady County is seeking bids for the Glendale Nursing Home Garage project, a construction procurement involving the development of a new five-bay storage garage located at 59 Hetcheltown Road in Schenectady, NY. The Request for Bid (RFB-2025-39R) solicits proposals for a single prime contract to construct a 40' x 61' one-story garage with two heated storage bays, featuring overhead doors, vinyl siding, and a pre-engineered wood truss roof system. Bidders must submit sealed proposals by November 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with a mandatory pre-bid site walkthrough scheduled for October 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The project includes a base bid and two alternates: Alternate #1 for electrical work and Alternate #2 for mechanical systems. Bid specifications are available digitally through BidNet Direct or by requesting documents from the Purchasing Department, with potential bidders required to submit a 5% bid bond and comprehensive documentation including NYSDOL certification, non-collusion forms, and other administrative requirements. The county will conduct investigations to determine bidder responsibility and reserves the right to reject any bid that does not satisfy project requirements.

The procurement encourages participation from women and minority-owned businesses, operating as an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action initiative. While no specific award value is explicitly stated, the project involves construction of a county-owned nursing home facility infrastructure. Bidders must comply with New York State prevailing wage requirements, with wage rates scheduled from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, covering various construction trades. The project requires contractors and subcontractors to be registered with the New York State Department of Labor, effective December 30, 2024. Potential respondents must demonstrate comprehensive capabilities in garage construction, including expertise in architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems. The procurement process allows for potential scope modifications through alternates and change orders, with a strong emphasis on local business participation and rigorous project oversight. Bidders will be evaluated on their ability to meet technical specifications, provide comprehensive documentation, and demonstrate financial and operational capability to complete the nursing home garage project.
