About this opportunity

The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) in Flint, Michigan is soliciting sealed written bids for the GCI Phase II Furniture Bid, a procurement of newly manufactured office and institutional furniture for the Genesee Career Institute. The bid encompasses fourteen chairs from manufacturers including Source International and Coalesse, two sofas and additional lounge components with acrylic backing from Coalesse, five tables from Allermuir and Steelcase/Turnstone, and seven ottomans from Allermuir, with specific product models, dimensions, finishes, and fabric selections detailed in the bid attachment. All furniture items must conform precisely to the product and specification sheets provided with no deviations permitted, and pricing must include delivery and setup at the Genesee Career Institute with no local warehouse storage costs to be borne by GISD. The successful bidder is responsible for removal and disposal of all packaging upon installation completion, with final acceptance granted only after complete delivery and installation have occurred and the owner or owner's representative provides acceptance. Bids must be submitted in writing on the official GISD Bid Form in one original and two copies, delivered to Cynthia McCain, Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, at 2413 West Maple Avenue, Flint, Michigan 48507-3493, by August 20, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. EST, with bid opening scheduled for the same date and time and award anticipated at the regular Board meeting on August 28, 2018. All bid prices must remain valid for ninety days from the bid opening date, and questions regarding the RFP must be directed to Denise Belt, Executive Director of Career Technical Education, via email at dbelt@geneseeisd.org at least 72 business hours prior to the due date. Delivery is expected in late November 2018 with installation to be completed in December 2018 or early January 2019, contingent upon the renovation project construction schedule.

There are no specific set-aside designations or restrictions limiting bidder participation based on disadvantaged enterprise status; however, all bidders must submit mandatory certifications including a notarized vendor certification confirming non-Iran-linked business status under Michigan Public Act 517 of 2012 and a notarized Familial Relationship Disclosure Statement under Public Act 232 of 2004 disclosing any familial or business relationships with GISD Board members, the Superintendent, or other District officials. All personnel working on District property must be fingerprinted and provide criminal background checks from State Police and the FBI, and all materials must be asbestos-free and lead-free in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA requirements. All bids must include a certified check or bid bond equal to five percent of the total bid amount, and the awarded vendor must submit a Performance and Materials Bond in an amount equal to the final contract amount. The District is exempt from Michigan Sales and Use Taxes, and the base bid price must include all services, materials, supplies, shipping, labor, insurance, and applicable taxes as a turnkey service. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in the procurement documents, though GISD reserves the right to add or change the total number of bid items in each category during the contracting process.
