About this opportunity

The State of Illinois Chief Procurement Office for General Services intends to award a sole source contract to Parata Systems for the purchase of an ATP 480 pharmacy medication packaging machine and a 5-year maintenance and service agreement for the Department of Human Services (DHS) Shapiro Developmental Center Pharmacy. The total value of the initial term is not to exceed $353,485.11. DHS is seeking this equipment and services due to the compatibility with its existing automated pharmacy system, RX Works, which uses Parata's proprietary software and equipment. DHS has previously procured similar Parata equipment through sole source and competitive processes in 2010, 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2022. The pricing for the new equipment and maintenance agreement has been negotiated and is consistent with prior purchases, with a 23% discount from MSRP. Purchasing the equipment and maintenance together provides a $13,500 discount and maintains a fixed maintenance rate for 5 years, resulting in a minimum savings of $58,787.89 for the state.

This sole source procurement is not subject to any set-aside designations or restrictions. Parata Systems is the incumbent vendor, as DHS has previously purchased and maintains Parata equipment and services. The existing Parata equipment and RX Works pharmacy automation system require integration with the new ATP 480 machine. The state estimates the total value of the contract will not exceed $353,485.11, which includes the equipment purchase and 5-year maintenance agreement.
