About this opportunity
The Worth County Board of Commissioners is seeking sealed bids for the FY 2025 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) project, which encompasses road resurfacing and reconstruction across multiple county roads. The procurement involves two primary components: 12.91 miles of road resurfacing under the LMIG program and 7.69 miles of road reconstruction under the Local Road Assistance (LRA) program. Specific roads targeted include Doe Hill Road, Joe Sumner Road, Paulks Chapel Road, Wrights Chapel Road, Isabella Terrell Road, Elli Drive, Pritchard Road, and Jewel Crowe Road. The project requires comprehensive road restoration techniques, including soil cement base, asphaltic concrete leveling, bituminous tack coat, striping, crack sealant, and shoulder clipping, all to be completed according to GDOT specifications and Worth County standards. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for April 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the 3rd floor meeting room at 201 N Main Street, Sylvester, GA, with sealed bids due by 2:00 p.m. on May 12, 2025. Contractors must submit two copies of their bids to County Clerk Angela Harrah, with work to be completed by November 30, 2025.
The procurement appears to be open to all qualified contractors, with the Worth County Board of Commissioners identifying itself as an Equal Opportunity Employer. Bidders must provide multiple bonds, including a performance bond equal to the bid amount, public liability coverage, and property damage insurance. The project requires comprehensive insurance coverage, including workers' compensation, general liability, and builders' risk insurance. While no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are explicitly mentioned, contractors must maintain a drug-free workplace and be prepared to coordinate with local utilities and public works departments. The bid package includes a detailed bid form with unit prices for various construction activities and incorporates a 10% contingency. Payment will be made upon completion of work and final county inspection, with potential penalties of $250 per day for late completion. Though a specific budget range is not disclosed, the extensive scope of road resurfacing and reconstruction suggests a substantial infrastructure investment for Worth County.
