About this opportunity
The Town of Hardwick, Massachusetts is requesting sealed bids for fuel and heating equipment services for fiscal year 2027, with bids due June 22, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. and public opening at 1:00 p.m. the same day at the Municipal Building in Gilbertville.
The scope covers four primary items: Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel for the Highway Department's 2,000-gallon tank; #2 Heating Oil for eight public buildings (Municipal Building, two libraries, fire station, highway department, town house, water pollution control facilities, and a future police department); Propane Gas for eight locations (recycling center, municipal building, highway department, and water pollution control facilities); and Heating Equipment Service Rates for both #2 heating oil and propane systems. An optional Item 5 for gasoline pricing for vehicle fleet use is available. All deliveries begin after October 1, 2026 and continue through June 30, 2027 on an automatic fill-to-capacity basis.
Bidders must submit fixed prices per gallon for diesel fuel and heating oil. Heating oil pricing is based on the Journal of Commerce Oil Price Daily-Boston Low Tank Price plus contractor markup. Propane gas pricing and service rates for annual cleaning and efficiency tests, weekday labor, evening labor, and Sunday/holiday labor must be itemized separately with specified units. All bids require a Certificate of Tax Compliance and Certificate of Non-Collusion. The Town retains the right to award contracts based on submitted bids. The contractor is responsible for payment of diesel tax to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Invoices must be submitted within thirty days with delivery confirmation slips provided at each location.
Sealed bids may be delivered in person or mailed to the Town Administrator.
