About this opportunity

Nash County, North Carolina is requesting informal bids for front-step replacement at the Nash County Administration Building (120 W. Washington Street, Nashville, NC), with bids due October 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and a mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit on October 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

The scope consists of three major items: demolition of existing paver and tile finishes to the existing concrete substrate while preserving existing precast balusters and caps; removal, cleaning, polishing, and reinstallation of the existing aluminum handrail and posts; and installation of new granite treads and risers per detailed specification. Work must commence as soon as reasonably possible following notice of award and contract execution, contingent upon weather conditions, with completion required by December 15, 2026.

Bidders must hold licensure under North Carolina General Statute Chapter 87 and submit evidence of such licensure. The County encourages bidding from small, minority, and female-owned contractors and disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs), though no set-aside or participation goal is stated. Bidding is conducted on a lump-sum firm-price basis with all applicable federal, state, and local taxes included in the bid amount. All material costs, including any unforeseen increases, must be documented with pricing both at time of bid and at time of shipment.

Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder, with consideration given to quality, performance, and the specified project completion timeline. The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality or reject any or all bids. Informal bids are submitted to the Nash County Public Utilities Office, 2nd floor, 120 W. Washington Street, Nashville, NC, or via email to mike.phillips@nashcountync.gov. The Architect of Record is Oakley Collier Architects, PA (Rocky Mount, NC).
