About this opportunity

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is requesting bids for fresh bread products under an annual contract (Bid 22-44), with the final bid due June 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Addendum 3, posted May 23, 2022, extended the closing date; acknowledgment of all addenda on the Certification Form is required for responsiveness.

The contract covers weekly delivery of fresh bread products to approximately 50 school sites during the school year. The District compiles central orders each Wednesday for Monday delivery. All deliveries must occur between 6:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on weekdays. The contractor must source at least 40% of fresh food products locally, defined as Georgia or bordering states, and maintain GAP certification for local farmers. All products must comply with federal and state food safety regulations, including HACCP requirements, USDA Buy American requirements, trans-fat-free specifications, and whole-grain-rich standards for grain products.

The initial contract term is one year, with the District holding options to renew for two additional one-year periods, subject to recommendation by the Director of the School Nutrition Program and the Superintendent and School Board approval. Performance begins June 8, 2022. Pricing is fixed per Schedule A for the duration of the contract and any renewal period; the District does not honor fuel surcharges, fixed fees, or markup cost increases. Price increases may be considered ninety days prior to renewal only if the contractor provides written documentation from manufacturers or suppliers demonstrating cost increases exceeding 10% of the contracted price. The contractor must pass all rebates, incentives, and bill-backs to the District within 30 days of receipt.

The contractor must maintain commercial general liability insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, commercial automobile liability insurance of $1 million combined single limit, and worker's compensation insurance at statutory limits. Payment terms are 2% 10 Net 40. The District reserves the right to inspect facilities, vehicles, and products at any time and to reject nonconforming goods, with the contractor bearing replacement or reimbursement costs.
