About this opportunity
The City of Newark, New Jersey is seeking bids for a two-year contract (Bid #2025-32) to procure flashlights and batteries through its e-Procurement Portal. The solicitation encompasses a comprehensive range of battery and flashlight products, including 50 line items covering various types such as alkaline, nickel cadmium, and specialized batteries for emergency lighting, cameras, and general use. Vendors must submit electronic bids by May 8, 2025, at 10:15 am, with strict adherence to the submission deadline as the portal will not accept late entries. The procurement requires firm pricing for the entire contract term, with bidders expected to include all associated costs including labor, materials, transportation, and handling. Evaluation criteria will likely include pricing, compliance with technical specifications, ability to maintain inventory for emergency orders, and adherence to various New Jersey state regulations.
The contract opportunity appears open to all qualified vendors, with no specific set-aside designations explicitly noted. However, bidders must comply with several mandatory requirements, including New Jersey's affirmative action provisions, anti-discrimination regulations, and business registration rules. Vendors must complete multiple compliance documents, including the Disclosure of Investment Activities in Iran form, Equal Employment Opportunity Language certification, and a W-9 tax identification form. While specific budget ranges are not detailed, the comprehensive nature of the 50-line item specification suggests potential for significant procurement volume. Insurance coverage, equal employment opportunity compliance, and adherence to state and federal regulations are critical qualifications for potential contractors. The city reserves the right to reject bids, make partial awards, and adjust quantities as needed, providing flexibility in the procurement process.
