About this opportunity
University of North Carolina Greensboro's Facilities Operations department is soliciting bids under IFB LK261003 for fire protection sprinkler testing, inspection, and repair across its campus, with bids due November 19, 2026. The solicitation is posted under commodity code 72101509 (Fire Protection System and Equipment Maintenance or Repair Service) and is tied to Guilford County, North Carolina.
The work covers 54 academic and facilities buildings totaling over 2 million square feet. Services must comply with North Carolina and federal fire protection building codes, North Carolina State Construction Office requirements, and National Fire Protection Association standards. UNCG requires one annual inspection per building, with half the buildings inspected in December and half in May. The awardee must coordinate all required tests and inspections concurrently to limit interruptions, because the primarily academic facilities have limited windows of vacancy for intrusive work.
Opportunity text
The University of North Carolina Greensboro's (UNCG) Facilities Operations department is searching for a Vendor to provide compliance with the North Carolina and Federal Fire Protection Building Codes, North Carolina State Construction Office, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) test and inspections of the fire protection sprinklers. UNCG's Academic and Facilities Buildings include 54 buildings and consist of over 2 million square feet. These facilities are primarily academic learning spaces. As a result, there are limited durations of vacancies to schedule intrusive interruptions to the systems. There is one (1) annual inspection for each building. Half of the buildings are performed in December and the other half in May. The intent is for the testing Vendor to coordinate all required tests and inspections concurrently to alleviate multiple interruptions.
