About this opportunity
The Town of Waterford, located in New London County, Connecticut, is seeking a qualified vendor to provide comprehensive fire apparatus and emergency vehicle maintenance and repair services through RFP #24-022. The procurement targets a three-year contract with potential two-year renewal options, covering maintenance for a fleet of 15 vehicles across five fire companies, including pumpers, aerial ladders, utility vehicles, brush trucks, and rescue trucks from manufacturers like Emergency-One, Pierce, Ferrara, Spartan, KME, and Seagrave. Key service requirements include annual CT DMV DOT inspections, chassis services, pump testing, general maintenance and repairs, and 24-hour emergency service capabilities for vehicles up to 108,000 lbs. All technicians must be certified as Emergency Vehicle Technicians, and the repair facility must be located within 20 miles of Waterford. The proposal requires submission of regular and emergency hourly rates, three fire department references, and detailed capabilities for diagnostic and repair work across electrical, hydraulic, and warning systems. Proposals are due by April 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with the Town intending to award to the most responsive and responsible bidder meeting the specified service demands.
The solicitation does not explicitly outline specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Bidders must possess a CT DMV General Repair License and provide a Certificate of Insurance with a minimum $2,000,000 coverage. While no incumbent vendor is mentioned, the RFP indicates the contract can be utilized by other fire departments in Connecticut, suggesting potential multi-jurisdictional applicability. The document does not specify a precise budget range or contract value, though the comprehensive service requirements and fleet size suggest a significant potential contract opportunity. The Town's approach appears designed to ensure robust, reliable emergency vehicle maintenance through a comprehensive, technically demanding procurement process that prioritizes technical expertise, service capability, and responsiveness to critical public safety infrastructure needs.
