About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting bids for a fiberglass composite or aluminum service body with canopy to be installed on a 2013 GMC Sierra 3500HD, with quotes due July 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. local time. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering the best value, with consideration given to quality, conformity to specifications, delivery dates, and overall economy.
The service body must feature a 132-inch length, 94-inch width, and 58-inch interior canopy height with a 42-inch cabinet height, installed on the specified vehicle with dual rear wheels and 6.6-liter diesel engine. The unit requires a steel understructure with 3/16-inch aluminum flooring, stainless steel latches and hardware, and a solid fiberglass or aluminum interior bulkhead approximately 7 feet forward of the rear doors. The exterior must include Wheatland Yellow paint with white interior compartments, rope-style LED lighting in all compartments with door-activated and master switches, flow-through ventilation and drain systems, Class IV trailer hitch rated for 10,000 pounds, galvanized Sure Step bumper, wheel chock holders, and backup alarm. Electrical connections must be sealed with heat shrink and protected with heavy-duty wire loom; Scotch-Lok connectors are prohibited. The storage layout specifies multiple compartments with slide-out tool trays, horizontal shelving, and a personnel access door on the curbside, with seven-way RV trailer connector and independently switched dome lights in each compartment. Installation is to be completed at the State's Augusta location with the vehicle returned upon completion; installation cost must be included in the bid.
Unit prices must be submitted separately with prices firm for 90 days from bid opening. The State may increase or decrease quantities by up to 10% and reserves the right to reject any or all quotes. Bidders must acknowledge their ability to accept Maine procurement cards. The State is exempt from Federal and Maine state sales taxes. All freight and transportation charges shall be prepaid by the contractor unless otherwise specified.
