About this opportunity
The Georgia World Congress Center Authority is requesting proposals for escalator modernization at Building C of the Georgia World Congress Center, with proposals due August 27, 2026, and a mandatory proposal conference and site visit on August 6, 2026. A restriction on communication is in effect — interested firms may not contact Authority staff or consultants except to submit questions as instructed, and finalists and apparent awardees are prohibited from public statements about their selection; violation results in rejection.
The scope covers in-truss modernization of 13 escalators (units C38–40, C44–54, and C59–60) and complete rip-out and replacement of 4 escalators (units C55–58), totaling 17 units. The contractor must provide all engineering, labor, materials, transportation, and equipment; obtain all required permits and pay fees; perform site preparation, wellway and pit work, electrical service installation, escalator surrounds, and facility restoration; provide 24-hour emergency callback service during interim and warranty maintenance periods; and deliver closeout documentation including as-built drawings, wiring diagrams, maintenance control programs, parts catalogs, and four sets of keys. All work must comply with ASME A17.1 and A17.2 codes, local building codes, fire codes, and ADA requirements.
Award will be based on cost of base modernization work, interim preventive maintenance costs during installation, 12-month warranty preventive maintenance costs, completion schedule, contractor's track record on similar projects, and maintenance capability at the project location. Pricing must be submitted separately for base work, interim preventive maintenance (commencing when each escalator group begins through completion), and 12-month warranty maintenance beginning at final acceptance of each group. The payment schedule is 25% upon contract award, 35% upon material delivery, 30% progress payment, and 10% retainage upon completion. Questions are due August 15, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The mandatory proposal conference allows two representatives per firm. Proposals remain valid for 180 days following submission.
