About this opportunity

The City of Meriden, Connecticut is requesting bids for removal, decontamination, and disposal of a 4,000-gallon double-wall underground storage tank system at Engine Company #2 under ITB B027-12, with bids due September 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. and a question deadline of September 2, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. A local-vendor preference applies, allowing City-based businesses submitting bids within 10% of the low bid to accept the award at the low bid amount.

The pricing structure requests a lump sum fee for total work, with contaminated soil removal as a separate unit cost encompassing testing, excavation, stockpiling, transportation, and disposal. Contractors must have a minimum of two years of tank removal experience and hold State of Connecticut certification for tank removal work. Bidders are required to conduct a site visit prior to submitting bids.

No estimated contract value is listed. Bids must remain open for 90 days from the opening date. A bid bond of 10% of the bid amount is required; the successful bidder must provide Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds each equal to 100% of the contract price. Liquidated damages of $500 per day apply for delays beyond the completion deadline. Payment is due no less than 30 days following service completion. Bids are submitted electronically via the City eProcurement Portal at https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/meridenct.
