About this opportunity
The state of Illinois has posted an emergency joint purchase master contract for the procurement of drugs and pharmaceuticals to be purchased on an as-needed basis by the Illinois Department of Human Services and Illinois Department of Public Health. The existing contract for these products expires on September 30, 2021, and a new contract was recently awarded, but a protest was received that stayed the procurement until a decision was made by the Chief Procurement Officer. To avoid a lapse in service, this 90-day emergency contract with the incumbent vendor, Cardinal Health 110, LLC, has been authorized for the period from October 1, 2021, to December 29, 2021, at an estimated cost of $25,000,000. The emergency contract will maintain the same terms and conditions as the existing contract, which had a 0% Business Enterprise Program goal. The recently awarded solicitation had an 8% goal.
This emergency contract will be funded through state appropriated funds and will be canceled once the new contract is executed. The emergency procurement is intended to maintain continuity of essential drug and pharmaceutical supplies for the state agencies. There are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond, and the incumbent vendor, Cardinal Health 110, LLC, is currently providing these services under the existing contract.
