About this opportunity
Grand Haven Area Public Schools is requesting proposals for elevator and lift modernization and safety upgrades across seven facility locations district-wide, with sealed bids due August 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and mandatory pre-bid site walkthrough on July 27, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. EST. A critical eligibility requirement is state elevator contractor licensing; bidders must also submit Iran Linked Business Affidavits and Familial Disclosure Statements or face automatic disqualification.
The scope spans seven projects: Lakeshore Middle School, Ferry Elementary, Education Service Center, High School Library, High School PAC, High School Stage Lift, and High School Aquatics Lift. Work includes phase monitors, door lock monitoring systems, ADA-compliant phone systems, emergency lighting upgrades, and other modernization and safety components. All equipment must be 100% non-proprietary and maintainable by any licensed independent elevator service contractor with no proprietary tooling restrictions. Contractors must provide complete technical documentation and as-built schematics upon completion.
Bidders must submit individual, standalone pricing for each of the seven projects on itemized cost proposal forms with estimated lead times, and combine all projects into a total base bid. The District reserves the right to award projects individually, in groups, or as a single comprehensive contract. Contract award is anticipated within 30 calendar days of bid closing.
Contractors must carry minimum insurance of $1,000,000 Commercial General Liability, statutory Workers' Compensation, $1,000,000 Automobile Liability, and $2,000,000 Commercial Umbrella. Proof of state licensing, references from at least three similar K-12 projects completed within the last three years, and project schedules are required. All work must occur during school breaks or after 4:00 p.m.; all contractor personnel must pass criminal background checks and fingerprinting with no student interaction permitted. The District requires a one-year full-replacement warranty on newly installed components and one-year labor warranty on installation workmanship, with emergency callback response times of one hour for entrapped passengers and four hours for equipment malfunctions.
