About this opportunity

Martin County Schools in North Carolina is seeking bids for an elementary intercom system replacement at Jamesville Elementary School, with the procurement opportunity active from January 13, 2025, to February 18, 2025. The project requires installation of a hybrid IP/analog intercom system featuring IP speakers for all classroom and instructional spaces, and analog speakers for common areas, hallways, and exterior locations. Key deliverables include two administrative phones in the main office, digital call switches in all instructional spaces, and integration with the existing IP phone system to enable two-way communication and all-call paging. The bid involves a comprehensive system implementation that includes removal of existing equipment, installation of new infrastructure, system programming, testing, and staff training. Contractors must possess specific qualifications, including a valid NC Electrical License, a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) on staff, a service office within 125 miles, and documented experience with at least three similar school district installations. The mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for January 29, 2025, at 9:00 am, with the final bid opening set for February 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm, and project completion required by August 1, 2025.

The procurement opportunity appears to be open to qualified electrical and communication systems contractors without specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises. The project will integrate with the existing IP phone infrastructure, requiring vendors to demonstrate compatibility and seamless system integration capabilities. While a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the project is funded through a Safety Grant, suggesting potential federal grant compliance requirements. Bidders must provide manufacturer certifications, professional references, and include tax as a separate line item in their submissions. The system specifications call for Bogen Nyquist E7000 Series equipment or approved equivalent, indicating some flexibility in equipment selection while maintaining specific technical standards. Contractors will be responsible for obtaining necessary permits, meeting insurance requirements, and complying with federal uniform guidance purchasing procedures. The comprehensive nature of the project, including equipment removal, new infrastructure installation, programming, testing, and warranty coverage, suggests a potentially significant investment in modernizing the school's communication infrastructure.
