About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Corrections is requesting bids for general electrical maintenance and repair services at 143 correctional facilities statewide under ITB-26-088, with bids due April 30, 2027 and a public bid opening on August 25, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time in Tallahassee. Vendors must hold Florida Certified Electrical Contractor status and demonstrate a minimum of five years of active experience performing comparable work for commercial or governmental agencies, supported by reference letters from three current or recent customers — a critical eligibility filter.

Services span routine inspections, minor installations and re-wiring, troubleshooting electrical failures, and repair and replacement of electrical systems, parts, and fixtures in compliance with Florida Building Code, National Electrical Code, and OSHA standards. The 143 facilities are divided into eight zones across four geographic regions. Vendors may bid on individual zones but must bid all items within a selected zone to be deemed responsive. Service delivery is required 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays, unless purchase orders specify otherwise. Emergency service calls require technician arrival within four hours with a quote and completion within 24 hours of approval; non-emergency calls require arrival within 24 hours.

The contract will be awarded to the responsible vendor submitting the lowest Grand Total Hourly Labor Rate per zone. The initial term is up to five years with renewal options for up to five additional years. Pricing is fixed and must include all labor, materials, parts, permits, inspections, licenses, equipment, and tools. A $10,000 performance bond is required within 10 business days of contract execution. Vendors must maintain 24-hour telephone availability, provide quarterly summary reports, and comply with Department security requirements, background checks, and PREA standards. Questions are due July 21, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Award decisions are anticipated in October 2026. Financial consequences apply for non-performance against specific metrics including late service call responses, incomplete documentation, and delayed project completion.
