About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the East Woody 26/27 Timber Sale, a first thinning operation on Tiger Bay State Forest in Volusia County, Florida, with bids due October 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM EDT.
The sale encompasses 175 acres: 168.3 acres of 20-25-year-old planted slash pine and 6.7 acres of natural pine. In the plantation, the contractor must remove every third row and operator-select trees in remaining rows to achieve a target basal area of 70 square feet per acre. In the natural pine stand, new rows must be cut 30 feet apart with maximum width of 20 feet, followed by operator selection of diseased, damaged, forked, suppressed, or Forester-in-Charge-approved trees to reach the same basal area target. The estimated volume to be removed is 8,637 tons of pine pulpwood and better.
Logging decks and skid trails require approval by the Forester-in-Charge. Sale boundaries are defined by roads, wetlands, obvious timber type changes, state forest boundaries, and fire lines. The contract term is eighteen months. Sealed bids will be opened at 4316 W. International Speedway Boulevard, Daytona Beach, Florida 32124.
Interested parties may obtain complete bid information by contacting Rachel Kyle at (386) 317-3278. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive any irregularities in bids received.
